2025 World Series Futures: Outright Winner
As you can see, the Dodgers are a clear frontrunner at MLB betting sites with +230 odds. The Tigers (+650), Yankees (+750), and Phillies (+850) sit behind them.
Dodgers (+230)
Dave Roberts’ group has been plagued by injuries all year long, especially when it comes to their pitching staff. But, Los Angeles has managed to stay consistent. They sit at the top of the National League West with a 58-39 record, 5.5 games ahead of the second place San Diego Padres. Shohei Ohtani’s MVP campaign has led the way for the Dodgers and he’s now back on the mound as well, which is a huge help to their rotation. Tyler Glasnow is set to return to the rotation shortly, while Blake Snell, Blake Treinen, and Roki Sasaki are all trending towards being back on the mound in the very near future as well. Considering how many health issues the Dodgers have, it’s pretty impressive they have the best record in the NL.
Tigers (+650)
It’s safe to say that the Tigers’ worst days of baseball are definitely behind them. We’re looking at the best team in the American League who have boatloads of talent on both sides of the ball. Detroit is young, motivated, and hungry to make a deep playoff run after showing promise in their return to October baseball last year. Tarik Skubal is well on his way to another Cy Young award and remains one of the best pitchers in the game. Casey Mize is a fantastic No. 2, while Jack Flaherty, Reese Olson, and Jackson Jobe have done a nice job in the rotation as well. Offensively, Detroit has so many weapons in Riley Greene, Gleyber Torres, Spencer Torkelson, and Zach McKinstry, among others. Javier Baez’s revenge year has played an enormous part, too. Don’t sleep on the Tigers.
Yankees (+750)
The Yankees remember the pain all too well of losing in the Fall Classic last season to the Dodgers, and they’ve been hungry to get revenge since. The organization did a great job of replacing Juan Soto after he left for the Mets, bringing in Cody Bellinger and Paul Goldschmidt to ease the loss. By no surprise, Aaron Judge has led the charge for New York so far as he continues to put together another MVP season. The slugger is hitting .355 with 35 home runs and 81 RBIs at the break. Ridiculous numbers. Bellinger, Goldschmidt, and Jasson Dominguez have all swung it well, too. The Bronx Bombers were slumping a bit before the first half ended and now sit a few games back of the red-hot Toronto Blue Jays in the AL East.
Phillies (+850)
The Phils have been a contender for several years now but they’ve failed to go all the way. Nevertheless, this roster has tons of playoff experience and the ability to finally win a championship. While Philadelphia was cooling off pre-All-Star break, they still sit at the top of the National League East with a 55-41 record, just a half-game above the surging New York Mets. Cristopher Sanchez and Zack Wheeler have both dominated at the top of the rotation, but if Aaron Nola can turn around his struggles as well, it’d be huge. Offensively, Kyle Schwarber, Bryce Harper, Nick Castellanos, and Trea Turner are all studs and know how to perform when the lights are brightest. The Phillies will be a threat in October.
Blue Jays, Mets teams to watch
Toronto’s World Series odds sit at +2200. However, they’ve really come alive and look like a scary team to face once the playoffs roll around. The pitching staff is experienced and so is this lineup, led by Vladimir Guerrero Jr and George Springer. The Jays could make noise. The Mets are also no pushover. Soto is finally starting to swing the bat well, while Pete Alonso continues to have a huge campaign. The talent up and down New York’s roster on both sides of the ball is no joke.
World Series Picks
There is an entire second half ahead, but if I had to make a couple of picks right now, I’d take the Phillies coming out of the National League, and the Tigers coming out of the AL. Yes, that’s controversial, but I do truly believe Detroit has what it takes to get past the Yankees. The same can be said if Philadelphia needs to beat the mighty Dodgers.
