In the first semifinal of this 2026 March Madness Final Four, the No. 2 UConn Huskies from the East Region will look to hold onto their title as the best team in college basketball with a win over the No. 3 Illinois Fighting Illini from the South Region. The teams square off in Indianapolis on April 4 at 6:10 p.m.

Illinois has largely dominated so far throughout this tournament, but UConn has been through the ringer with two tough wins over Michigan State and Duke in the last couple of rounds. Which path will lead to success in the Final Four?

A lot of that will depend on the players: who is going to step up on either side? Will Tarris Reed Jr. continue ripping through the Madness? Will his teammate Alex Karaban bounce back from an ugly shooting night in the Elite Eight? Can David Mirkovic control the glass for the Fighting Illini? Read on for our favorite player prop bets as we answer all of those questions for this Final Four matchup. We've got you covered with the top March Madness betting odds up here in Canada as well!

Highlights

Tarris Reed Jr., C, UConn Huskies - To Score 15+ Points (-106)

Tarris Reed Jr. could very well be the best player through four rounds of this tournament. If UConn were to go on to win it all, it’d be hard to see anyone but him winning Most Outstanding Player.

He had 31 points and 27 rebounds in the first round, 10 and 13 in the second round, 20 and 5 in the Sweet Sixteen, and 26 and nine in the Elite Eight. If he can bang in the paint with the likes of Duke and Michigan State, he should be able to get 15 more here against a pretty big but not necessarily defensively dominant Illinois front line. He has scored 16+ in six of his last eight games.

Alex Karaban, F, UConn Huskies - Over 12.5 Points (-110)

If the Huskies are going to win, they’re going to need more than just a big game from Reed, they’ll also need senior forward Alex Karaban to bounce back in a big way from an ugly performance in their Elite Eight comeback performance against Duke, shooting just 2-for-10 from the field and 1-for-6 from deep.

However, being 0-for-5 from three didn’t stop him from launching one with just under a minute left in a four-point game. He hit that shot to make it a one-point game, and we think that will bring his confidence right back. Not that it really ever seemed to have left. He’s only shot 20 percent or worse from the field five other times this season. In the four games following those bad shooting nights, Karaban went for 15, 12, 17, 23, and 12. He will have the green light, and he’s definitely due for a good shooting night here.

David Mirkovic, F, Illinois Fighting Illini - To Record 10+ Rebounds (+120)

The Fighting Illini score a ton through second chance points, and David Mirkovic is a big reason for that. We don’t think they’ll have as much success in that regard as they usually do against a ferocious Huskies team, but Mirkovic plays enough minutes to hit this juiced number. He’s gone for 10+ rebounds in three of four games in this tournament, and he’s done so in five of his last eight games too.
