After five straight weeks of Fight Night events, which can be exciting but generally not as star-studded as pay-per-views, the UFC is back with UFC 327, which is taking over Miami’s Kaseya Center on April 11 with a pretty solid main card. And it could have been even better.

Jiri Prochazka and Carlos Ulberg will still duke it out for light heavyweight gold, but a minor injury to flyweight champ Joshua Van forced his title fight with Tatsuro Taira to be postponed to UFC 328 in May. But fear not, because this main card still has a lot to love apart from the main event.

Former middleweight title challenger is moving up to light heavyweight to take on undefeated No. 6 contender Azamat Murzakanov in the co-main event. On top of that, undefeated UFC newcomer Josh Hokit will battle with No. 5 heavyweight contender Curtis Blaydes and past-their-prime top 15 light heavyweights No. 10 Dominick Reyes and No. 12 Johnny Walker will square off as well. Read on for our picks, predictions and UFC betting odds for these main card scraps!

Highlights

  • Azamat Murzakanov has won 5 of his 6 UFC fights by finish
  • Curtis Blaydes has been knocked out in 2 of his last 4 fights
  • No Dominick Reyes fights have gone the distance since his controversial loss to Jon Jones in 2020

No. 6 Azamat Murzakanov vs. Paulo Costa Light Heavyweight Bout Betting Odds

FighterMoneylineSpreadRoundsWin by DecisionWin by KO/TKO/DQWin by SubmissionGo the Distance
Azamat Murzakanov-205-3.5 (-115)O2.5 (-125)+180+190+1,650Yes (+100)
Paulo Costa+170+3.5 (-115)U2.5 (-105)+450+390+1,650No (-130)

The first of two undefeated fighters we’re looking at here, Azamat Murzakanov (16-0), wasn’t exactly proven until his last fight, when he crushed Aleksander Rakic in the first round at UFC 321. Paulo Costa (15-4) is probably the best fighter the Russian has taken on yet. Costa is a much more active fighter, but at this point in his career, he doesn’t seem to have a lust for a win as much as he has a lust to remain on the big stage.

We do know one thing though, Costa is as tough as they come: he’s only been finished once by a freak head kick from Israel Adesanya. We’re tempted to take Murzakanov to get his sixth finish in the last seven fights, but even if we think he’s a better fighter than Costa, the gap isn’t big enough to take a shot on a method of victory bet. We’ll keep it simple for the parlay.

Best Bet: Azamat Murzakanov Moneyline (-205)

No. 5 Curtis Blaydes vs. Josh Hokit Heavyweight Bout Betting Odds

FighterMoneylineSpreadRoundsWin by DecisionWin by KO/TKO/DQWin by Submission Go the Distance
Curtis Blaydes-120-3.5 (+145)O2.5 (-105)+235+255+2,500Yes (+125)
Josh Hokit+100+3.5 (-185)U2.5 (-125)+425+250+800Yes (+125)

Josh Hokit (8-0) has won all eight of his professional MMA fights by finish. But he has been facing a bunch of scrubs. Curtis Blaydes (19-5, 1 NC) is the best fighter Hokit will have faced by a very wide margin. The guy was fighting for the interim heavyweight belt just a couple of years ago for crying out loud. Blaydes is going to make this a dog fight and use his weight (he’s got 30 pounds on Hokit) to reduce his risk against a much younger and faster and stronger fighter in Hokit. You can’t beat experience.

Best Bet: Curtis Blaydes Moneyline (-120)

No. 10 Dominick Reyes vs. No. 12 Johnny Walker Light Heavyweight Bout Betting Odds

Go the Distance

Dominick Reyes-140-3.5 (-125)O1.5 (+140)+650+115+1,600Yes (+300)
Johnny Walker+120+3.5 (-105)U1.5 (-180)+575+230+1,000No (-425)

Since losing that questionable decision to Jon Jones back in 2020, Dominick Reyes (15-5) has not participated in a fight that went the distance. He went 3-4 in those scraps, including a three-fight win streak prior to his most recent fight, a first round TKO loss to the challenger in the main event at UFC 327, Carlos Ulberg.

Johnny Walker (22-9, 1 NC) had a rough three-fight run recently, but he bounced back with a TKO win last summer over Zhang Mingyang. Both of these guys are far past their primes and could be stopped at any time, but we think Walker is the more spry and unpredictable of the two, so we’re going with him. If the odds on this fight to go the distance were just a little more reasonable we’d take that in a heartbeat though.

Best Bet: Johnny Walker Moneyline (+120)
