No. 12 Geoff Neal vs. Uros Medic Welterweight Bout Betting Odds
It’s not often you see betting sites handicapping a welterweight bout with -700 odds not to go the distance. But it does make sense here, because if that was at any kind of reasonable odds, we would have been all over it. Uros Medic (12-3) has never had a fight reach the final bell, and four of Geoff Neal’s (16-7) last five fights have been finished inside the distance as well.
While Medic hasn’t fought the caliber of fighter Neal has, he’s got a massive power advantage here. And Neal looked really poor in his last fight against Carlos Prates last year, a nasty KO loss. Medic is third in the entire UFC with 2.26 knockdowns per 15 minutes. And with Neal only putting up a 57 percent strike defense while absorbing nearly 5.5 significant strikes per minute, we don’t think he will last long here. If we were doing a single bet, we’d take the extra value on Medic to win via KO/TKO (+250), but for the parlay we’ll take his moneyline.
Best Bet: Uros Medic Moneyline (+175)
No. 14 Dan Ige vs. Melquizael Costa Featherweight Bout Betting Odds
Dan Ige (19-10) has had a bit of a rough run lately, losing four of his last six and not looking great in doing so. He’s become more and more susceptible to takedowns as he’s gotten older, and Melquizael Costa (25-7) loves himself a takedown. You can pretty much count on him getting two at some point in every fight. And if he gets those in two different rounds and is able to maintain control on Ige, who was taken down five times in his most recent loss to Patricio Pitbull, it’ll be game over.
Ige didn’t stay down for long when Pitbull did take him down, to be fair. But in a tight fight, takedowns count. Costa seems to be on the brink of becoming a somebody in this division, and Ige seems to be taking on the role of gatekeeper at this point in his career. We’re expecting him to open ‘em up for “The Dalmatian” on Saturday night in what promises to be one of the more dull matchups of the main card.
Best Bet: Melquizael Costa Moneyline (-210)
No. 7 Serghei Spivac vs. No. 9 Ante Delija Heavyweight Bout Betting Odds
It’s not often you get a top 10 heavyweight matchup buried this deep on a Fight Night main card. But that’s where we find Serghei Spivac (17-6) and Ante Delija (26-7). Spivac seemed on a fast track to a title shot before a TKO loss to Ciryl Gane derailed his momentum. He’s now lost two straight, with the most recent being a decision loss to Waldo Cortes-Acosta. Funny enough, WCA is also the last guy Delija fought, though instead of a decision, Delija fell via straight KO.
We can’t really separate these guys. They both throw bombs but they’re both very susceptible to counter attacks as well. We can’t trust either, so we’ll wrap up our parlay with the admittedly short odds on this one not to go the distance: seven of Spivac’s last eight fights have finished inside the distance, and ditto for six of Delija’s last seven.
Best Bet: Fight To Go The Distance - No (-320)
