Day 23 of the World Cup brings another three enticing matches across the United States. To start things off, Australia and Egypt lock horns in Dallas before title-holders Argentina face Cape Verde, one of the biggest surprises of this tournament.

Lastly, Colombia goes to battle with Ghana in Kansas City in the evening.

Top Picks for World Cup Day 23 | July 3

Australia vs Egypt

Australia Moneyline (+225)

Australia has had mixed results in the World Cup, but the Socceroos are the more experienced side between these two. Tony Popovic's men made the Round of 16 in 2022 before bowing out against Argentina in what was an entertaining affair. Egypt is no pushover, and they've shown well in the tournament, finishing with five points in the group stages. While I expect this to be a very tight game between two teams who have quality in many areas, the Aussies are my pick to win by just one goal. It's also important to note that Mo Salah is dealing with a hamstring injury, and he could be sidelined for this fixture. That's a massive blow for the Egyptians. Look for Australia youngster Nestory Irankunda to make his presence felt in the final third. He's bagged six goals in 18 appearances for his country.

🗸 Long Shot: Nestory Irankunda Anytime Goal (+300)
🗸 Extra Tip: Australia to Win by 1 Goal (+350)

Argentina vs Cape Verde

Argentina to Win Nil (-167)

Cape Verde has been such an inspiring story in this World Cup, making the knockout stages as debutants. Keeper Vozinha has become a worldwide sensation, but he will have a difficult night on Friday. Argentina is the defending champion for a reason, and they've looked the part. La Albiceleste won all three group games, scoring eight goals and conceding just once. Lionel Messi is firing on all cylinders, netting six already. The options around him, such as Julian Alvarez, Lautaro Martinez, and Enzo Fernandez, are all key figures, and Argentina should overwhelm the Blue Sharks. We could see a very lopsided affair here, and there's little doubt that Messi will bag his seventh goal of the tournament.

🗸 Long Shot: Argentina Over 2.5 Goals (-105)
🗸 Extra Tip: Lionel Messi Anytime Goal (-192)

Colombia vs Ghana

Colombia by 1 Goal (+220)

Colombia has looked very impressive in the World Cup. They topped their group ahead of Portugal, finishing above the Selecao after a matchday three draw, and finished with seven points. The Colombians are undoubtedly the stronger side here, and they've shown their quality in every match. I do believe they will come out on top, but Ghana will make things difficult. The Africans lost by only one goal to Croatia last Saturday, and their backline has impressed, even holding England to a scoreless draw. The difference-makers on Colombia are clear, though, and I expect Luis Diaz to be man who scores the winner for the South American outfit.

🗸 Long Shot: Luis Diaz Anytime Goal (+160)
🗸 Extra Tip: Under 2.5 Goals (-156)
