Downloading an iOS app is incredibly simple. To do so, follow these steps!
- From your device’s homepage, find the App Store
- Click on the App Store
- At the top of the App Store, search what betting app you’d like to download.
- From there, select the app.
- Confirm that you meet the compatibility requirements.
- With the compatibility requirements confirmed, click Get.
- You may be prompted to insert your Apple ID password or confirm your download with Touch ID or Face ID.
- Once confirmed that you want to download the app and you have inserted your password (if necessary), the app will automatically download!
- When the app finishes downloading, you will have access to the betting app that you chose!
Compatibility requirements
Compatibility requirements vary from bookmaker to bookmaker, as well as your device. The good news is that if you are reading this post, your device is probably good to go for most online betting apps!
The first thing you want to check is your storage size. Since downloading apps takes up storage space on your phone, you need to have enough of it to download the app. Once you confirm you have enough space, then that is the first step to downloading the app!
The good news is that sports betting apps don’t take up much space, so you won’t have to compromise other apps to download your favourite sports betting apps.
Software is another key component for compatibility. Ensuring that your device has the latest iOS software downloaded will allow you to add apps without issue. With the app you want to download, you can see the minimum specs required as well. Some bettors don’t update their iOS right away, so the bookmaker will mention the minimum software needed to use the app without issue! This could mean that even though we are on iOS 16, the minimum requirements are iOS 14 and 100mb of space. As long as those boxes are ticked you should be good to go!
What If There is No Mobile App?
The majority of apps can be found in the app store but that isn’t always the case! Sometimes, bookmakers will choose to not create a dedicated mobile app. Instead, they will offer a mobile-friendly version of the site. While it sounds the same as a mobile app, there are differences to make not of.
First, a mobile app is downloaded to your actual device. This allows you to save your preferences and remain logged into the app. Think of this app as your own version linked to your account. When using the mobile version of the site, you may likely be prompted to sign in with every use and confirm that the person using the device is you. This could come from methods like 2FA and other protocols.
Mobile apps will allow you to send notifications as well! This isn’t possible with mobile-friendly websites. Since you are downloading the app to your phone, you can prompt the app to send certain notifications, such as if you have an early cash-out option or if your wager won! With mobile-friendly sites, you will need to load the page and log in each time.
Mobile-friendly sites are a great compromise to not having a dedicated mobile app. It isn’t like using a mobile site is bad, either! This will still allow you to bet on the go, which is the entire purpose of using a mobile version of the site!
Don’t worry if your favourite betting site doesn’t offer an app. Chances are, they will have a mobile friendly site that is optimized for your phone! This will be a scaled down version of the site and it will allow you to accomplish anything you would on the desktop version. The biggest difference is that you won’t have an app to easily access! Really, that’s more of a convenience thing if anything. In short, bookmakers will (normally) offer a mobile friendly version of their website, whether they have a dedicated mobile app or not!
