The very top of the 2026 NFL Draft is pretty close to certain, as is often the case when there is a good QB prospect. And especially when there is only one. Ty Simpson looks to be a decent prospect and might even be a first-round pick, but he’s a project.

The 2025 Heisman Trophy winner and undefeated National Champion Fernando Mendoza is the only proper QB prospect in this class, and he’s a -50,000 odds favorite to be the top pick. That’s a 99.8 percent implied probability. But who’s going to be drafted after him? The New York Jets currently hold the No. 2 overall pick, though it’s not certain they’re going to keep it.

For now, though, we’re treating this like a Jets pick. And based on the odds, it seems head coach Aaron Glenn and company have their sights set on one of two options: Texas Tech edge David Bailey and Ohio State ‘backer Arvell Reese.

Will it be the 2025 college sack king in Bailey? Or will Gang Green opt for Reese, who was part of the Buckeyes’ dominant defense over the past two seasons? Read on for the NFL betting odds for the No. 2 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, as well as our analysis and predictions for this futures market!

Highlights

  • The New York Jets hold the No. 2 pick, but there’s no guarantee they’ll use it themselves
  • National sack leader David Bailey (14.5 sacks) is the favorite
  • The only other player with odds shorter than +10,000 is Arvell Reese

The Favorite: David Bailey, Defensive End, Texas Tech (-150)

Apart from quarterback, the most important position in the NFL today is arguably the edge rusher. So with the best QB going No. 1, it would make sense for the best pass-rusher to go No. 2. And David Bailey is definitely the best pass rusher in this class. The numbers speak for themselves: he led the nation with 14.5 sacks (in 14 games) and also led the Big 12 in TFLs (19.5).

He was one of 12 consensus All-Americans, and at 6’4” and 250 pounds, he still ran a 4.50 in the 40-yard dash at the combine a couple of months ago. The guy’s a freak, especially when you see him doing all this stuff wearing jersey number 31.

And you may be getting him at much better odds than you might have last week: the Jets cancelled their visit with the Red Raiders standout last week. However, they’d already been to his pro day, taken him to dinner, and gotten all the information they needed. Jets GM Darren Mougey said not to read too much into it.

The Best of the Rest: Arvell Reese, Linebacker, Ohio State (+110)

The only other possibility would seem to be Arvell Reese. He only had 6.5 sacks last season, but he did so on less than 100 pass-rushing opportunities. He’s more of a do-it-all guy that can also play in the middle of the defense as well. Reese was also a consensus All-American like Bailey, but he played in a much better defensive unit with Ohio State. Reese is no doubt an excellent player with a sky-high ceiling, but with the No. 2 pick, the Jets will want to bet on a sure thing. That would be Bailey.
